Houston bars open early for Comey testimony watch parties

Houstonians gathered at Axelrad Beer Garden on Thursday morning for a Comey testimony watch party.

While all eyes were on Washington D.C. ahead of former FBI director James Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, bar owners in Houston got an early start Thursday.

Several bars hosted Comey testimony watch parties, opening doors early this morning for those who want a seat for the hearing.

Three Houston venues welcomed patrons for the historic event on Capitol Hill:

Comey testified about his role in investigating allegations of Russian influence in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

In Washington, D.C., there was a frenzy growing on Capitol Hill as people tried to get their way into the hearing room where Comey's testimony played out.
The line snaked its way through the halls of two senate buildings.

The people at the front of the line said they had been there since 4 a.m.
