A police chase came to a violent end in northeast Harris County on Wednesday.

It all started with a burglary at an apartment complex on 280 Uvalde around 9 a.m.

Jermaine Henderson told Eyewitness News he woke up to a burglar in his bedroom Wednesday morning. Henderson said he was fast asleep inside his apartment, and his little brother was sleeping in the room next door.

Henderson said he heard a noise by his Xbox and saw a man dressed in black. The crook quickly ran off, and Henderson realized the burglar had broken through a back window.

"Literally three feet -- that close. If I rolled out of my bed, I'm there. That's how close he was," said Henderson. "He stole two TVs, an Xbox and baby clothes."

The baby clothes belonged to his 18-month-old sister Peyton. The crooks also stole the baby's potty and Easter basket, according to her godmother LaFonda Thomas.

"That's terrifying. My sister works hard for her stuff. I don't appreciate this," said Thomas. "What was he going to do with this stuff?"

A neighbor called 911. Deputies told ABC13 they discovered the man behind the wheel of a Pathfinder. A chase ended when the suspect crashed into a building.

Only ABC13's camera was on the ground when paramedics put the man on a stretcher as he screamed in pain.
