HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has a new warning before you take another dip in the swimming pool.

According to officials, a harmful parasite found in swimming pools is on the rise. Last year, there were 32 outbreaks linked to the crypto parasite.

The parasite can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

CDC officials said the best way to avoid the parasite is to never swallow pool water.
