Community mourns loss of two teens
The students were killed when a pickup truck they were riding in flipped over

KATY, TX (KTRK) -- There was heartache and tears in Katy Sunday night as the community mourns two teens killed in a pick-up truck crash.

Those teens were killed late Saturday night when the pick-up they were in rolled over on Luna Vista Lane in Fort Bend County.

Trent Weber, 17, was a football player at Seven Lakes High School. Terra Kubala, 16, was a well-known sophomore at Cinco Ranch High. Sunday night both schools and the entire Katy ISD community came together to celebrate the two lives they say ended way too soon.

"I lost a brother. I lost a best friend. But we've all got to stay strong," says one of Trent's friends.

Trent played football at Seven Lakes High School. His long-time coach and family friend Shane Hibbeler spoke to the students on behalf of his family.

"I know you want to hear more, but his mother told me to tell this community to love one another, even the children were in that accident that everyone wants to point to, to blame, but she said love them too," he tells us.

Trent was one of about eight to 10 people in the bed of a Toyota Tundra that crashed and flipped near Roesner Road and Luna Vista Lane. The students were leaving a bonfire, something Terra Kubala's mom says she always looked forward to.

"She was beautiful," says Terri Kubala. "She was just amazing and we just loved her. She was a lovely, kind, and, how we used to say, an angel in a little girl's suit."

As hard as the day was, Terri Kubala comforted her daughter's friends at the candlelight vigil celebrating her life at Cinco Ranch High -- a school friends say her smile lit up.

"She had a fabulous gift of making people feel special," Terri Kubala says.

"If y'all all knew Terra, she'd love this because she loved being the center of the spotlight and she loved getting attention from everybody, even if it wasn't positive attention. She still craved it all," another friend told the crowd.

The other people in the pick-up are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed, but investigators say it's still an open investigation.

Counselors will be at both schools when students come back Monday morning.
