HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people have serious injuries after a sports bar was robbed early this morning in northwest Houston.

One person was shot in the leg and another was pistol-whipped, police say, when five or six armed, masked suspects rushed inside the La Copa Sport Bar at Hempstead Highway and Bingle around 5am, armed with shotguns and pistols.

The robbers rounded up the 10 or 12 employees and patrons inside the business and forced them into the bar's back room and made them take off their clothes, an HPD official tells Eyewitness News. The masked suspects then took money, cell phones and jewelry, according to police.

Police say the suspects got away in a red or maroon SUV that could possibly have been a Hummer.

The person who was pistol-whipped needed stitches. The condition of the victim who was shot is unknown at this time.
