Details on Pratham Houston's "Read-a-thon," which encourages children in the U.S. to read books so that disadvantaged kids in India can go to school. The youngsters in this country raise money and earn rewards for reading, and the money raised helps kids in India attend school. The organization says of the 250 million children worldwide, two-fifths of them live in India.

For over 20 years, Pratham has been working to end illiteracy for millions of children in India and around the world. The "Read-a-thon" continues through September.
