BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- A Baytown man is dead and his girlfriend injured after someone broke into their apartment and shot them.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex just before 6 a.m. at the 3400 block of Shady Hill Drive.

Police said the shooter kicked in the door of the apartment. The victims, 38-year-old Lloyd David Trim and 20-year-old Jasmine Gonzalez, were both shot. Trim died and Gonzalez was shot in the face and taken by Life Flight. There's no word on her condition.

Police said there were a pair of 911 calls back-to-back to report a disturbance, then reports of gunfire.

"I just heard banging and I woke up and went to the room with the babies. Then I heard more banging and then it stopped," neighbor Shyann Trejo.

Police said they are questioning a person of interest who was seen leaving in a black vehicle.

Investigators have not released a motive.
