Five taken into custody for suspicion of human smuggling

SPLENDORA, Texas -- Five people have been arrested in connection with an apparent human smuggling operation, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was also involved in the law enforcement operation in the area of Patton Village.

A spokesperson with ICE said the five people taken into custody on suspicion of human smuggling are part of an ongoing investigation. Their identities have not been released and no further details are available.
