Votes are in and the Pearland PD cruiser dove has a name

PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- The votes are in and the Pearland police department's newest addition finally has a name.

It's official, after a quick tally of votes from all of the names provided on the Pearland Police Department Facebook page, the dove's name is -- Pearl.

Pearl appears to be doing just fine after a small rain shower Monday morning.

The dove made a nest on a Pearland police squad car last week at the base of the windshield.

The dove is sitting on top of eggs, and police are letting her sit there until the eggs hatch and the baby birds are able to go off on their own.
