Shooting of Baytown store clerk caught on surveillance video
A violent robbery in which a Baytown store clerk was shot was caught on surveillance camera.

BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- New video shows two robbers opening fire on a store clerk even though they already had what they wanted.

Baytown police have charged Lannis Fontenot, 42, with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Fontenot has a criminal record dating back 25 years.

Officers are working to identify two others involved in the armed robbery that happened last Sunday morning at Baytown Market on Market Street.

The clerk, a married father of two children, was shot at least four times.

The video shows two men with guns entering the store. One jumped on the counter as the other served as a lookout. The clerk complied, handing over almost $2,000, and then tried to fight back with a bat. It is then that the robbers opened fire.

Police believe another man came into the store earlier to case it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS (8477) or text keyword "Baytown" plus the tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
