HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Some parents and teachers were stunned to find a swastika on the front lawn of Langham Creek High School Friday.

"I was on Snapchat," said one student after being sent a picture. "I was like oh my God this is crazy. It's so inappropriate."

It was a picture of a swastika outside Langham Creek High School. It was left for everyone driving by the school to see. A picture of the symbol was quickly shared among students on social media.

"I don't think they meant it serious," said another student.

"Wrong prank to do at the wrong time," said resident Anjanette Kirkland.

"Very unfortunate we have stuff like that going on," said Langham Creek alum Xavier Williams.

Local residents were upset by the swastika symbol, which is commonly associated with Nazi Germany.

"Whoever did it, I don't think they are well educated on what that symbol represents," said Kirkland.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD police is investigating the incident. The school district released this statement to ABC13:

We are extremely disappointed by this horrible act of vandalism. It is hateful, hurtful and will not be tolerated. Immediate action was taken to remove the rocks and we are conducting a thorough investigation. We will make every effort to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of this despicable crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact law enforcement immediately.

The crime is considered criminal mischief and possibly trespassing.
