HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) --Police are investigating multiple scenes connected to a fatal shooting overnight.
A man is dead after he allegedly went to collect a debt he was owed at a home in the 500 block of Slumberwood in east Houston.
Right now investigators are trying to piece together what happened. The shooting occurred just before midnight.

Here is what we know so far: A man and a family member allegedly drove to a home to get some money he was owed. A short time later, there were shots fired inside the home.
The man rushed back into the vehicle where his relative was waiting. He had been shot, and was in need of medical attention.
The victim was driven to East Houston Medical Center. He was then taken to the Texas Medical Center via helicopter, but he died of his injuries.

Investigators are at the scene of a SUV crash on Federal near Fleming Drive. Police said the dark colored Chrysler Pacifica that crashed into a ditch was driven by the alleged shooting suspect.
This suspect was allegedly chasing the victim and his relative when the crash happened.
The suspect ran away on foot after the crash, and has not been seen since. We do not have a description of that suspect.
Meanwhile, investigators are at the home on Slumberwood where the victim was allegedly shot.

Police said the victim had a shotgun, and that this was a gunfight between himself and at least one other man.
Over at East Houston Medical Center, police have recovered what appears to be the victim's shotgun, which was stashed in the bushes outside the hospital.

We are still working to confirm the details on that shotgun.
The victim's name or age are not being released right now.
