HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Deputies say a man was shot in his own driveway after being robbed in north Harris County.

Investigators are on West Hardy Road, where the shooting happened just before 1 a.m.

The victim was doing what we all do every day, pulling into his own driveway. The trouble began after he got out of his car.

The 25-year-old was approached by a man who demanded the victim turn over his valuables.

The victim did just that, handing over his smartphone, but that was not good enough for the suspect.

He then opened fire on the victim, hitting him twice, once in the chest and once in the arm.

After the gunshots rang out, the suspect left the area in a dark colored sedan and has not been seen since.

Investigators said his vehicle was found crashed into a retention pond nearby, but the robber was nowhere to be found.

The suspect is only described as a Hispanic male.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he is expected to survive his injuries.
