BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- A clerk was shot during an attempted robbery in Baytown on Sunday, according to officials.

Police responded to a robbery in the 2900 block of Market Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the store clerk had been shot multiple times during the robbery.

Detectives said that two black males exited a silver 2011-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, before entering the store. Once in the store, both suspects displayed handguns with one of the males jumping over the counter while the other stood by the door.

Investigators said that during the robbery the clerk fought back with the suspects, at which time both suspects fired multiple rounds from their handguns, striking the victim multiple times.

Investigators also learned that just moments before the robbery, a third black male had exited the same vehicle and entered the store. The video shows that he exits the store and gets in the driver's seat of the suspect vehicle and drives around the block.

That's when the two robbers exited the vehicle and approached the store, according to video.

The two suspects that showed their weapons are both described as black males, approximately 5 foot 10 inches. One suspect is weighing approximately 200 pounds and wearing a gray hoodie, baggy shorts and a red hat. The second suspect weighed approximately 250 pounds and was wearing a white hoodie, dark shorts and a black mask covering his face.

The store clerk was taken by helicopter to the hospital and is in stable condition.
