Deputies are in northeast Harris County after a frightening ordeal involving a man coming home from work overnight

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A motive is still not known after a frightening ordeal involving a man returning home from work and someone with a gun.

Deputies are investigating in northeast Harris County after a father was shot twice after he had just pulled into his townhome complex.

A Harris County sergeant tells us the man got home around 2:30 a.m. on West Village Drive, off the Eastex Freeway.

That is when they said a shooter opened fire on the man in his car. He got out and ran, and the person allegedly kept on firing at him.

The man was struck twice by bullets, but at least 12 shots in all were fired, according to investigators.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery, but he is expected to survive.

We do not know the man's name, or whether he was targeted. Investigators said the victim lives at the complex with his wife and several children.

There are very little details about the shooter.. Investigators are searching for clues that might lead to that person who opened fire this morning.
