HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A teen involved in a high-speed chase on I-45 North had a near miss when their pickup truck side-swiped an 18-wheeler.

Montgomery County deputies and DPS were chasing after the suspect when the truck went over a curb, swerved and then hit the big rig at West Gulf Bank at I-45 North.

The teen steered the pickup back into his lane, and continued down the road with deputies still following.

Jeff Ehling has new details about the chase suspect

The chase began in Montgomery County after the teen and another person allegedly attempted to do a smash and grab robbery at a Love's Truck Stop.

At one point, the second suspect jumped out of the vehicle somewhere in Montgomery County. We do not know if that suspect is in custody.

The teen behind the wheel of the truck continued on alone, driving south on I-45 North at speeds of up to 90 MPH.

Houston police said the pursuit ended when the suspect crashed their vehicle on West 18th Street at Ella.

Investigators said the teen blew a tire after hitting a turn lane divider, and that is when the chase came to an end.

It is not known yet what charges the teen will face, but he is in custody. His name was not given to us by deputies.

Fortunately, there are no injuries reported after the chase.
