HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The teenager accused of murdering both of his parents as they slept will remain in jail.

The attorney for AJ Armstrong asked a judge for bond today so he can be released. Instead, his case was reset for April 17 and will stay in jail until the bond issue is addressed at that time.

Police say Antonio and Dawn Armstrong were shot in their Bellaire-area town home in July 2016.

On Friday, Armstrong was ordered to be tried as an adult for the shooting deaths of his father, former NFL player Antonio Armstrong, and his mother Dawn.

Both were shot last July in their Bellaire-area home.
