BRYAN, Texas --The bodies of a 3-year-old boy and the 21-year-old friend of his family have been recovered after they failed to return from a fishing trip on a private pond in a subdivision near Bryan.
The Brazos County Sheriff's Office says the toddler's family reported him and family friend Omar Martinez missing Wednesday night after they failed to return from their fishing trip earlier that day.
Sheriff Chris Kirk says the child's body was recovered a short time later on the bank of the pond, where resuscitation efforts by firefighters failed. Divers helping searchers Thursday morning found the man's body.
Although both died of apparent drowning after their boat capsized and sank, an autopsy has been ordered for the man. Kirk said no flotation devices were found.
