How to add a pastel pop to your spring makeup
In the spirit of springtime, learn how to add a pastel pop of color to your makeup look.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Springtime is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a pastel pop of color in your makeup look?

Makeup artist Brandie Seifert is the founder of Hollywood Hippie Cosmetics. She loves using color as part of her makeup techniques, and this season, it's all about pastels.

While it's easy to apply lip and cheek color, using pastels on the eyes can be a little more challenging, so Seifert shared her tips to make pastels work for all ages.

  • Stick to your neutrals! Wear the same colors you normally would. If you use a brown contour color in the crease and a neutral eyeliner, continue to do that -- just add a pastel shade on the lid. That pop of pastel will give you a natural but decidedly springtime look.
  • Add to your eyeliner! Wear your regular eyeliner as you normally would. Then, using a flat angle brush, dip it into your favorite pastel shade and apply that on top of your liner. This is a very on-trend way to wear your pastels while still remaining understated.
  • Ombre under the eye! A fun and more daring way to wear pastels is to use a shadow under the eye. You can do this with one shade, making it heavier on the outside, or you can use three different shades and create an ombre effect. Start with the darkest color on the outside, then a medium shade in the middle and a light shade on the inside.
