Woman claims to see face of Jesus in a tree trunk
A woman says she sees the face of Jesus in a tree trunk in Southeast Houston.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A divine face is on display in Houston, according to two devout Catholics.

Lifelong friends Betty Clack and Dorothy Ritter reached out to Eyewitness News. They said they wanted the world to know the face of Jesus Christ appeared on an old oak tree.

They claim the apparition happened along Meadow Creek Lane in southeast Houston. Clack told ABC13 she was praying the Divine Mercy prayer on Ash Wednesday. Clack paused to sip her coffee only to look up and see what she described as a miraculous sight.

"There he was on the tree. I thought, 'Is that really you?'" said Clack. "It was the face of Jesus. I called her and said, 'You're not going to believe what's in this tree.' She got shook up too."

Ritter said she raced over and could not believe it.

"It's a reminder to the world. He's here. She wasn't looking for him. He appeared to her. That's the grace," said Ritter.

"I see the face of our Lord and his passion."
