Spring HS selling mattresses to raise money
Gone are the days of selling candy bars and wrapping paper to fund school activities.

SPRING, Texas (KTRK) -- Gone are the days of selling candy bars and wrapping paper to fund school activities. One local school group is now selling mattresses to raise money.

During the First Annual Spring High School Mattress Sale, the community can choose from a variety of brand-name mattresses to benefit the school's band and theatre programs.

Unlike traditional fundraising events, students are not responsible for any of the actual selling or cash handling. Rather, they are tasked with referring potential buyers to a pop-up mattress showroom event staffed and managed entirely by a third party.

Customers will even have the option of arranging financing for their new mattress.

Custom Fundraising Solutions, the company that facilitates the sale, touts the sale as an opportunity for organizations to raise $25,000 in a single day.

The event kicks off this Sunday, March 26, at 10 a.m. in the Spring High School cafeteria.
