HOUSTON (KTRK) --Since the year 2000, at least 30 NBA and numerous All-American players have come out of Houston.
While Texas may be known for producing some awesome gridiron talent, the Bayou City is also a breeding ground for some of the best talent in the nation.
On April 8 at Wheeler Fieldhouse, the city's top 20 ranking high school basketball players will hit the court for an all-star game hosted by Showcase Houston.
The best players from all over the greater Houston area will be divided into two teams to play in a north vs. south match.
The young hoop stars are competing for more than just a win on the court. At the end of the game, only one of talented players will be named the MVP.
Aside from seeing NCAA college-destined players go at it in an all-star game, spectators will get a chance to watch the players test their skills in a dunk contest and other challenges.
