Skate park designed by skaters opens in SW Houston
After a four-year design and construction process, a skate park designed by skaters is open in southwest Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A skate park designed by skaters is now open in southwest Houston.

The park, dubbed The Station, is located at Gulfton and Chimney Rock. Skaters from around the area have spent four years working on the project, handling everything from raising funds for the space to working with architects to design the facility.

"I feel great for these kids. They're the ones who made it happen," Mayor Sylvester Turner said. "They had a dream, they came to the table, worked with the different partners and didn't stop."

District funds and donations paid for the $1 million project.
