Liberty Co. constabe injured in crash released from hospital
A Liberty County constable injured while directing traffic in February has been released from the hospital.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After more than a month in the hospital, a Liberty County constable injured in a February crash was released from the hospital.

Precinct 1 constable Justin Johnston triumphantly rang the gong as he left TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital on Saturday morning.

Johnston was hit at the intersection of FM 1413 and Highway 146 in Dayton as he directed traffic in February. After the accident, he was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Investigators are still trying to piece together a violent crash in Dayton that left a Liberty Co. constable in the hospital

Johnston had bleeding in his brain and was placed in a medically induced coma.

Investigators said Samuel Leyva slammed into Johnson as he drove a red pickup truck, speeding down the shoulder of the road and going through barricades right before the accident.

Levya allegedly slammed into several patrol vehicles in addition to hitting Johnston.
