Winer storm causes flight cancellations
More than 6,000 flights canceled across U.S. due to the major winter storm.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A huge winter storm is targeting the East Coast, prompting several flight cancellations across the country.

Bush Intercontinental Airport is reporting 50 cancellations from Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

Meanwhile, Hobby Airport is reporting 15 cancellations from Boston, New York, Philadelphia and D.C.

If you are flying in or out of New York, the state's three airports have canceled more than 1,300 flights. Airports across the country have canceled more than 6,000 flights.

Southwest Airlines, which carries more domestic passengers than any other airline, doesn't expect to operate any flights Tuesday at 14 airports stretching from Washington State to Portland, Maine.

The major airlines are waiving ticket-change fees that range up to $200 for customers who want to change their travel plans. Restrictions vary by airline.

If you are planning on traveling by air, make sure to check with your airline to see if there are any delays or other cancellations.
