Police identify victims in deadly Pasadena taqueria shooting.

PASADENA, TX (KTRK) -- Pasadena police are trying to figure out why a man targeted his wife and her sister, before turning the gun on himself.

The shooting happened Thursday night at a popular Mexican restaurant called Caliente Tierra on Red Bluff and Estate.

The man has been identified by police as Manuel Casique Ochoa. His wife has been identified as Margarita Pineda and her sister, who was shot and survived, is Sonia Pineda. Police say Sonia is the owner of Caliente Tierra taqueria.

Both women were sitting at a table when Ochoa stormed in and ordered everyone out, police say.

"He opened fire, striking his estranged wife two times and the sister once in the arm. The wife was pronounced deceased at the scene," Pasadena Police Lt. James Holt said.

Ochoa was taken to the Hermann Hospital by helicopter, but he later died, the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office said Friday.

According to Ochoa's Facebook page, he and Margarita were just married on Feb. 8.

"Never thought I'd be this happy marrying my best friend and mother of my children. Words can't describe the way I feel for you, Margarita Pineda," Ochoa wrote.
