Major construction closure shuts down southbound Gulf Freeway lanes this weekend

HOUSTON -- If you have any plans to be around the Clear Lake area this weekend, you need to avoid the Gulf Freeway.

A major construction project calls for the southbound mainlanes of I-45 to be shut down, from Scarsdale to the Nasa Bypass.

The closure includes entrance and exit ramps. It's scheduled from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday.

Highway 3 is an alternate route, but traffic is expected to be heavy. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
