Veteran known for playing 'Taps' on Galveston strand passes away

GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- The Korean War veteran known for playing "Taps" on the Galveston strand has died.

Guy Taylor, 83, would end every day by going to his balcony on the Galveston strand and play 'Taps' on his bugle.

Taylor led a modest life, but inspired thousands with his passion and love for his country.

"I still get chill bumps and I do it 200, 300 times a year," Taylor told us when we interviewed him in April. He said that he would play until his final note.
