HOUSTON (KTRK) --People upset with President Trump's executive orders on immigration gathered for a protest on the corner of Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd Friday.
Local law enforcement expect to see more of these demonstrations pop-up as we get closer to Super Bowl Sunday.
"We know peaceful demonstrations are part of our democracy we understand that we respect that," said Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Harris County.
For the most part Houston has had peaceful protests. H.P.D. said it has a solid plan in place should those protesters get out of line. Local, state and federal agencies are working side by side.
"We do a lot of table top exercises and working with all local and federal law enforcement and were prepared for any event at the end of the day it's still about public safety and making sure everyone has a good time," said the sheriff.
H.P.D. said should anyone get a class B misdemeanor or higher they will be sent to the Harris County jail.
