Some ticket holders told Eyewitness News they missed half the show waiting in lines outside the club

Some concertgoers are calling their Club Nomadic experience a "huge disappointment."

The highly-anticipated and sometimes controversial pop-up club near the Heights officially opened last night to 3-hour long lines for some ticket holders.

The club finally received its certificate of occupancy Thursday afternoon, making way for opening night with headliner, The Chainsmokers.

As many as 10,000 people were expected to invade the First Ward neighborhood for the concert and residents were concerned about parking, traffic and potential crime.

"We are very upset," customer Kirsten Trout said. "We paid a lot of money...missed half the show because of the line."

Trout and her friends say the line wrapped around the neighborhood, and moved very slowly as club staff worked to admit everybody.

Even though there is no onsite parking, they said they parked and walked to get to the club instead of using the shuttles, and it sounds like they definitely don't recommend doing this.

"They told me look for staff parking," she said.

Other concertgoers who took an Uber said they had no problems.

Planning on using Uber? Here's how it is different this weekend
If you plan on taking Uber home from Club Nomadic, your Uber app will look a little different when you open it up.

Instead of pairing with a driver and seeing their picture, you will be given a pin number.

Head to the Uber line, and it will work more like a cab stand. It is first-come and you will be put into the next available car waiting in the line.

Then, give the Uber driver your pin number which will share your route information with them.

But don't plan on ordering the Uber and then heading out to grab it. You will need to wait in line before getting into a vehicle.

Uber representatives are on the ground at the event to help with any confusion.

The City of Houston issued placards to residents for street parking and temporarily changed streets surrounding the venue on Edwards to one-way for better traffic flow. The club also hired more than 50 police officers.

No on-site parking was available. Shuttle buses from Allen Center in downtown Houston dropped off hundreds. Car services and taxis took care of the rest. As of late Thursday, it seemed all the preparation and plans had worked.

"They've had other events over there where they haven't blocked traffic and haven't blocked parking and haven't given out placards and it was a disaster," said Kira Geslin, who lives nearby. "So, this is good," she added.
