HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Popeyes corporate office has condemned the behavior of a franchise employee who was caught on camera seemingly preparing food on the floor.

"What is shown in the video is completely unacceptable and violates all Popeyes food preparation policies and guidelines. Frankly, we are disgusted," a spokesperson said in a statement released to Eyewitness News.

"The franchise owner has reviewed his employee food preparation practices and given his assurance that what is shown in the video is not standard or acceptable in his or any other Popeyes restaurant."

The statement goes on to add that local health department officials joined Popeyes corporate representatives in inspecting the restaurant on Thursday, finding that it met all health and safety standards. The employee who is believed to have created the video has since been terminated, Popeyes told Eyewitness News.

The video in question has been circulating on social media since last summer. According to various posts on social media, it was shot at the Popeyes on 9830 Homestead Road:

It appears to show unidentified employees preparing on the floor in the back of the restaurant.

ABC13 has not independently verified the veracity of the footage.

Full statement from Popeyes corporate:

We are aware of the very negative video we believe was created by a terminated employee of a franchise-owned Popeyes restaurant last year and then posted on Facebook recently. What is shown in the video is completely unacceptable and violates all Popeyes food preparation policies and guidelines. Frankly, we are disgusted. The franchise owner has reviewed his employee food preparation practices and given his assurance that what is shown in the video is not standard or acceptable in his or any other Popeyes restaurant. Both the Health department and a Popeyes corporate team inspected the restaurant yesterday and found it met all food preparation and safety standards. This video is unacceptable on every level, and we will investigate this incident fully and take all necessary action.
