HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A church that fell behind on rent is back on its feet thanks to Eyewitness News viewers.

The story of the Reconciliation Anglican Church aired Tuesday night on ABC13. The church collects food from grocery stores and restaurants to hand out to charities and the homeless.

Pastor Simon Omeke and his church were behind in rent, with a $6,000 payment due.

Hours later, a woman called Pastor Omeke and his wife offering to pay the entire amount.

Omeke says there has been an outpouring of support from across the country.

"Somebody called from Florida saying just a few minutes ago saying he would send his help by mail. And that is wonderful," Omeke said.

Omeke says he visited the landlord Wednesday morning with $10,000 total.

The church is still waiting for the green light to move back in but remain optimistic that the space will be ready for Sunday.
