HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- The residential intersection of Olana and McDermott in northeast Harris County was blocked for most of Monday by an overturned 18-wheeler. The big rig hauling boxes of motor oil tipped over when the driver made a serious miscalculation.
"I came down here and when I got halfway down here I just froze, I was like -- 'Wow!'" said Darla Thompson.
Thompson says the 18-wheeler narrowly missed her front yard when the truck driver tried to make a right turn, but tipped instead when his back wheel went into a ditch.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says trucks aren't usually supposed to park in residential neighborhoods, but in this case, nothing prohibits a truck from driving through, which hasn't been a problem until now.
The driver tells Eyewitness News he isn't from Houston and was trying to find a gas station when he got lost.
"Our concern was really for him. We invited him in any time he wanted to and told him we'd be happy to fix him a sandwich, give him something to eat or drink. I felt really sorry for the guy, " said Thompson.
The driver says he was not cited.
