Ironic Case: Ex-Criminal Has His Vehicle Stolen

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston Police pulled over four men and a young female riding in a stolen Chevy Tahoe Monday morning after officers said the driver ran a red light at Tidwell and Jensen.

Police also said they found a loaded gun under the seat.

Police say the five were taken into custody, and the truck owner, who doesn't want to reveal his identity, is left with a mess.

"They stripped the column from around the ignition and just trashed it from the inside out," said the car theft victim who didn't want to be identified.

"This is actually the second time this has happened to me," the man said.

He just fixed his vehicle after it was stolen once before. He lost his job when he couldn't make it to work without transportation this time around.

The keyholes are ripped out, and the steering column is ruined.

"I try to make a living for me and my family," he said.

He knows the territory, saying he has a criminal record of his own and that's why he's all the more motivated by this act. This won't bring him down, he says, he just wants to move on, avoid being caught up in any trouble.

"No telling what else they could have done inside my vehicle, and I could be driving my vehicle and putting my own self in danger because they think they recognize this vehicle from a crime they committed earlier."
