HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people are dead after a shooting outside a night club at the Northwest Mall.

Officials say one person has died after a violent night club shooting at Northwest Mall

Detectives say it was the security guards who saw the shooting and followed the suspect. They took the man into custody until police could arrest him.

People leaving the Chapa nightclub never expected to walk into the crime scene in the parking lot.

It was just after 4am when police say the shooting happened.

Authorities say the suspect got into an argument with two men in the parking lot, then started shooting at them.

Police say the two victims were taken by friends to a nearby hospital where they died.

Detectives say the suspect drove away but was captured thanks to mall security guards.

"Two security officers in the parking lot saw everything happen and they chase him down," said Detective Christopher Elder with HPD. "They gave chase, and they were able to hold him in place until HPD came."

Detectives don't know what the argument that lead up to the shooting was about, but officers say they found a gun and two shell casings in the suspect's truck.

He faces two murder charges.
