HOUSTON (KTRK) -- When there's beautiful weather and gorgeous scenery, you can't go wrong -- so why not head to any of the nearly 100 Texas State Parks on Sunday for free?
In honor of Veterans Day, Texas Parks & Wildlife is waiving entrance for all states parks in Texas (although this offer does not apply to properties managed by the National Park Service) on Sunday, November 13 for all visitors -- veteran or civilian.
Around the state, there are more than 90 state parks, including several in the Houston area: Brazos Bend State Park, Galveston Island State Park, Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center, San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site and Battleship Texas.
Battleship Texas has been closed for repairs for the past two days, but will reopen on Sunday, park officials say.
