HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A special service will be held for fallen U.S. Army Sgt. Jimmy Moriarty at Grace Presbyterian Church this morning.

Moriarty was killed along with two other soldiers when they were ambushed inside a safe zone in Jordan.

One of Jimmy's comrades shot and killed the Jordanian who opened fire.

His family is reeling from the pain. Jimmy's dad says he has strong feelings about what happened.

He believes his son should not have been there, and wants the government to have a more solid plan before committing soldiers to other countries.

His dad says Jimmy was one in a million, an "extraordinary human being."

The FBI is investigating Jimmy's death.

The service at Grace Presbyterian Church begins at 10am.
