Doctor accused of misdiagnosing children

DETROIT, MI (KTRK) -- A Michigan-based doctor is facing legal hot water.

He's accused of misdiagnosing hundreds of children with epilepsy.

Laurie Harris says her daughter was misdiagnosed with epilepsy and suffered severe rashes and lifelong complications.

In the lawsuit, close to 250 families claim Dr. Yasser Awaad, a pediatric neurologist, misdiagnosed hundreds of children, saying they had epilepsy.

Harris' child underwent surgery for an implant that sends electrical shocks to her brain.

Following complications, Brittany underwent two more surgeries.

Awaad's attorneys have denied the allegations against him.
