DAVIS, CA (KTRK) --Thanksgiving is fast approaching, but there's one town where turkeys aren't welcome.
As a spate of recent 911 calls reveals, the ballooning wild turkey population in Davis, California is causing headaches of all sorts for residents, KTXL-TV reports.
"This is a little embarrassing. I am trying to get into my office on G Street and I have this huge turkey surrounding my car, circling me, and I don't know what to do," laments one caller.
"There's a turkey between 4th and F and then 5th and F that's running around chasing after people," says another caller.
Authorities estimate that as many as 100 wild turkeys are roaming the streets of the northern California town. Dozens are known to regularly congregate in a city cemetery.
City council members recently approved a turkey management plan that will work to keep the burgeoning bird colony under control.
