Thanks to the work of a diligent tipster, one of Texas' most wanted sex offenders was apprehended this week in Houston.

Department of Public Safety officials say that Charles Simpson, 48, was arrested without incident north of downtown on Thursday. Simpson had been on the run since January 2016.

He was wanted for parole violation and failure to comply as a sex offender. Simpson was convicted of sexual assault in 1990 and again in 2006 for delivery of a controlled substance. He had been out on parole since 2006.
