Police arrest suspect in death of Atascocita woman

ATASCOCITA, TX (KTRK) -- Harris County Sheriff's deputies are conducting a homicide investigation at a home in northeast Harris County.

A 55-year-old man called a family member around 8:30 a.m. saying he shot and killed his wife, then fled south toward McAllen with their 12-year-old son in the vehicle.

A spokesperson confirms that a female is deceased inside the man's home and a male suspect left the scene.

When Eyewitness News arrived at the scene deputies were entering the house with guns drawn.

Victoria County Sheriff's deputies stopped the man and took him into custody around 11 a.m. The 12-year-old was with him and was safe.

The man will now be extradited back to Harris County, police said.
