One dead after two-alarm apartment fire in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person was killed in a two-alarm apartment fire in southeast Houston.

HFD arrived to the scene, located at 8200 Broadway near Hobby Airport, just after 3pm. Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor of the building, authorities said.

The victim is believed to be a 17-year-old male.

A firefighter was taken to a local hospital with a minor knee injury.

No official word on how the fire started.
