HOUSTON (KTRK) --Houston police took seven people into custody Friday morning, accused of coming into the country illegally.
Officers say it all started when they attempted to pull over a stolen truck that had a paper plate just north of Greenspoint.
As officers approached the truck, seven people got out of the vehicle and fled.
Officers were able to catch all of seven of them.
Investigators say six of them appear to be illegal immigrants from Central America. One of them is a resident here and will likely face a charge for stealing the truck.
ICE will handle the illegal immigrants and any charges there.
Investigators also searched the truck for drugs after a narcotics dog got a hit on it. After a thorough search, officers did not find any drugs.
