HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Polo Club is tucked away on the northwest corner of Memorial Park. It's a beautiful space which has existed for more than eight decades.

The sport is much like field hockey but on horseback.

Those at the club, like Jesse Weaver, told abc13 it's time for more people to get involved in the game.

"I want people to be driving down 610 right here to look over and see it, and say 'That's somewhere I can go,'" said Weaver. "At the end of the day, you get out here. You have four players playing against four other players on horseback. You're riding a 1,000 pound animal running full speed across the biggest playing field in sports. You have a significant level of danger and adrenaline rush. There's nothing like it. I played every sport growing up. This is it. Period."

Every Sunday, games are played at the Houston Polo Club.

Tickets start at just $15. It's a chance to see the action up close.

If you're interested in Polo classes, you'll need to reach a little deeper in your pockets. The cost can run into the thousands.
