Top local political donors revealed

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One of the top talkers this election season is who is backing who.

We've done a little digging and found the top local donors to the Republican Party, not necessarily Donald Trump.

According to the latest publicly available information by the Federal Election Commission, Bob McNair has given the most at $6 million while Richard Kinder has donated $2 million.

In total, more than 23,000 Houstonians gave to Republicans, including 3,800 who donated to Trump.

As for the Democrats, close to 30,000 people from Houston have donated to the party, with 17,000 directly giving money to Hillary Clinton.

Riley Burnett, a lawyer, is the top local donor to the Clinton campaign with $5,400.
