Investigators are at the scene of a wreck between an patrol car and a Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center van

An HPD officer and four blood bank workers were hospitalized after a major crash involving a Houston police office in southwest Houston.

The crash happened just after 6am on Holmes Road at Fannin.

Raw video shows where the HPD officer crashed

The HPD SUV shows major damage after it apparently burst into flames after getting into a wreck with a Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center van.

The officer was helped from his vehicle then taken to Memorial Hermann with non-life threatening injuries.

Police car and blood bank van involved in accident

The van from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center had four people in it, they were on their way to set up a blood drive when the accident happened.

Those four blood bank workers were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

We do not know if the officer was on a call at the time of the crash.

Debris covered the roadway and several plastic coolers could be seen strewn around the scene.
