Cop discovers body on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer made a gruesome discovery on his way to work Sunday morning: a body in the middle of the Southwest Freeway around 5am.

Investigators say the male driver was heading southbound when his Toyota Corolla struck a retaining wall.

The vehicle rolled twice, ejecting the man into the mainlines, where he was run over and killed by another driver.

According to police, the second driver who struck the man then fled the scene.

The victim's identity has not been released.
