A 27-year-old man was injured in a shooting after confronting some alleged thieves

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A hotel clerk is in the hospital this morning after he was allegedly shot by three people caught breaking into some cars.

This all happened at the Quality Suites on Vantage Parkway East near Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Harris County deputies say the 27-year-old hotel clerk saw the thieves and went out a side door to confront them.

That is when the alleged suspects opened fire, hitting the clerk in the stomach and the leg.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. He is expected to survive his injuries.

Deputies say the three suspects are on the run after getting away in a vehicle.
