HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a man involved in a smash and grab burglary in northeast Houston is on the run.

HPD says three suspects are now in custody after a police chase ended on Crofton Street early this morning.

Investigators say this all began around 2:30am when four men plowed a stolen white van into the Little Caesar's Pizza on Lyons and Kress Street.

The suspects were allegedly able to take a safe before speeding off. What the alleged burglars didn't realize was that a tracker was inside the safe, leading police straight to their van.

Officers were able to take three people into custody, again, but a fourth suspect ran into a wooded area.

K-9 units were called to assist in a search, but the man was not found. HPD has since called off the search.
