JJ Watt Injured
Texans' J.J. Watt re-injured his back and could miss the remainder of season.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Texans confirm J.J. Watt has been placed on the injured reserve list after he re-injured his back.

The Texans have also announced they have signed Antonio Smith.

According to ESPN, Watt could possibly miss the remainder of the 2016 season.

Watt released this statement on Twitter: "Adversity sucks. Your attitude towards it doesn't have to. I will be back."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Watt will be placed on injured reserve Wednesday after the latest setback.

"It doesn't look good," a source told Schefter.

Watt underwent surgery in the off-season to repair a herniated disc. He missed the entire training camp and preseason after the surgery. The injury likely occurred during Thursday's game against the New England Patriots.

Before Watt's arrival to Houston, Texans had never made the playoffs and had the fifth-worst NFL record, according to ESPN. Since then they've won three division titles and two playoff games.

Watt has never missed a game in his six-year NFL career.
